Small Food is a bakery, a kitchen, home to multiple independent businesses, visiting bakers and a Barista coffee concession and neighbour to Beam, a gallery and bookshop. Small Food is a community.
During 2024 Kimberley Bell and Ania Becker are in permenant residence at Small Food, baking pastries, cakes, pizzas, bread, savouries and biscuits to compliment the cafe at Beam editions. Eat in or takeaway, we have tables in the bakery and the gallery. Dogs welcome on a lead, and plenty of space for pushchairs and little people. If the weather is fine you can sit out on our garden terrace, enjoy an art exhibition and browse the books at Beam.
Small Food has been baking and making since 2014. As well as providing good food for our community, we also teach, host and advocate nationally and internationally for food justice. We take a particular interest in Seed sovereignty, working with a strong network of bakers, millers and farmers from all of the UK to build an alternative grain economy, one that will be more resiliant, fairer and more delicious than the current industrial status quo.
Below is a selection of photos from 10 years of Small Food adventures. We welcome you to join us for adventures in the future!
